Sunday 5th April to Sunday 12th April 2009
The week-long celebration that we have come to know and love as the Gladstone Harbour Festival has a humble past but a very exciting future! Over 46 years ago the Gladstone Harbour Festival was born - a one-day celebration to greet the winners of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race as they crossed the finishing line.
The Festival rapidly expanded to seven days and nights, jam-packed with entertainment that we now know as the Gladstone Harbour Festival. The Festival has enjoyed a huge growth, with over 70 000 spectators visiting the annual event. Much of this success can be contributed to the large range and quality of free entertainment provided at the Festival throughout the entire week.
The 2009 Gladstone Harbour Festival is set to be an amazing week jam packed with exciting events. Kicking off on Sunday the April 5 with the traditional Rio Tinto Alcan’s Street Festival presented by Midday Rotary, complete with Opening Night Celebrations and Rio Tinto Alcan’s Fireworks, there are plenty of fun-filled things to do and see all week. For a complete list of the weeks activities, please see the link below
